The series of photographs "Mystical Colonization" meditates on the historical closeness between Islam and Christianity during the colonial period.
By using a renowned woman in the field of Islam in Latin America as the main character in the photos within a Mudéjar legacy church, the aim is to create a series of poetic and conceptual bridges through poses that allude to prayer in Islam. These poses are physically connected with the church and the Andalusian eight-pointed star. Similarly, the geometric composition of the photographs plays with the orthogonal relationship of the Latin cross plan of most colonial churches in the territory formerly known as New Granada (now Colombia).
