Project

This project is conceived as a remapping process of Colombia's territories using as a starting point the cartographies made during the19th-century Chorographic Commission under the direction of Agustín Codazzi.

Employing materials that allude to the pre-Hispanic and colonial history of the departments, I created an installation that explores and addresses questions around the practice of mapping and creating maps, and how these concepts are perceived when framed within contemporary practices.

For the map of Cundinamarca, I created an installation made of burnt fique in which I use the archetype of the Condor, as Cundinamarca comes from the words Cun/Marca, which mean: Territory of the condor.
