"Mantas de viento" is a large-format installation made with 'mantas de cielo', a type of porous fabric characteristic of the northern region of Mexico. These blankets are sewn and attached to metal structures.
The work comes to life when the fabrics rise and wave in response to the strong winds that blow through the city of Monterrey. Once, in motion they recreate the image of the archetype of the feathered serpent, known as Quetalzcoátl, a mythological figure in the Aztec and Mayan cultures related to the wind.
